 Ingeniero eléctrico francés. Fue el primero en utilizar un arco eléctrico para soldar. En 1881 se le concedió una patente francesa por el primer proceso de soldadura por arco. Este utilizó un electrodo de carbono para generar un arco a la pieza de trabajo. El proceso alcanzó temperaturas relativamente bajas y no tuvo éxito con el acero. Sin embargo, fue ampliamente utilizado comercialmente para soldar placas de plomo para fabricar baterías de almacenamiento.
